What can’t the Google Home Mini do thats the question, what a great little device that takes the effort out of having to pick up your phone all the time to get the information you need while going about your day.

I’ve heard from some industry marketing Gurus such as Gary V that Voice controlled tech is going to explode in popularity in the coming years and I would have to agree.

It really ups your game in terms of multi tasking, you can ask Mini what the weather will be for the day while your eating your breakfast or drinking your coffee for a jumpstart. You can find out how bad the traffic is on the highway for your drive to work. It’s definitely making peoples lives more efficient in this regard and people want information fast not slow.

Do you think theres any downsides to this device? such as range of speech or how far away from it you need to be for it to pick up on what your saying?

I’ve experimented with a few Google home devices and haven’t been disappointed yet, theres a lot of cool things you can do with them and it definitely adds value to your day to day routine.

Look forward to hearing your thoughts on and cons this device has but otherwise really enjoyed reading your insight through this article.

I love your website too its very clean and easy to navigate. Keep up the great reviews.

I think the only downside to the Google Home Mini would be it’s texting feature. While you can text people from your contacts on the Google Mini, it’s just a bit tedious trying to set up. That would be the only downside that I can think off the top of my head.

The Google home mini sounds like a nifty device to have, I myself do not own one. I think that with all the technology and smart devices that we in the world today, the Google home mini is taking it a little to far. I think that society as a whole, myself included, has become consumed with smart devices they are a necessary evil in the world today. I prefer my Home to be plain Jane no techie stuff there because as soon as I leave home, It is everywhere and with everything. If you loose power, will the Google home mini still work? We rely too much on everything smart in the world and its making us  lazy and stupid. This is of course just my lil’ ol opinion!

I appreciate your comment. I do believe that it is absurd for humans to think that technology can do all their work for them which can create a lazy attitude. But the world we live in is driven by technology and it’s only going to become more advanced.

I was going to get the google mini for work to have an assistant around the I have the Echo at home and I love it so I wanted to give the other product a shot

my customer explained he bought a mini and found it to be really helpful but he didn’t know if it can do as much as the Echo. Do you know if the mini can control lights, make orders, or play local radio?

Great question. The Google Home Mini can control your lights, audio, and make orders. To do that, all you would have to do is set it up one time in the personal app and your all set.

Thanks for a great review of the Google Home Mini… I appreciate the clear outline of just what it can do. We have been shopping for either the Google Home Mini or the Amazon Echo and it seems funny that for such smart devices it’s not clear right away what they can do for you. When you look at them in the store it’s really hard to understand the true potential of these little devices! Do you have a preference between the Google Mini or the Amazon Echo? We’d appreciate your opinion… thanks again!

They’re both great devices. But in my opinion, I would recommend the Google Home Mini because  you have more freedom. With Amazon Echo, you can only stream music from paid services such as Amazon Prime or Premium Spotify. With Google, you can stream music from anywhere and on any device because its Bluetooth enabled. So you can play music from Apple Music or from YouTube, you can even stream videos if you would like. Plus the Google Mini is like having the Google Search Bar in your home. You ask it a question and you instantly get answers just like you would if you went to Google Homepage to search something up. So I would definitely lean more towards the Google Home Mini over the Amazon Echo.

I have been looking into getting a Google Home Mini for a while now.  My biggest obstacle was not really  knowing what all it does.  So this was great information for me, and they are really not that expensive.  I am wondering if this can be incorporated with other google smart home devices?  I would love to start “automating” my home, and this seems like a start for me.

The Google Home Mini is a smart investment as it can help you manage your day-to-day responsibilities and it is compatible with other Google devices. All you have to do is set it up within the App. I agree, smart homes is gaining more popularity as it makes things much easier and saves you money. I am in the process of automating my home right now and the Google Mini is one of the devices I am using to do so.

I guess with all the tasks we have to do these days, we could do with helpful reminders. These features make it sound like a worthwhile product to have on hand. The phone contacts, the estimate of time over a distance, the crunching of the numbers would be all worth it for me. There would be no need for looking up information nor working out results with a calculator……It seems like you just have to say what you think (as a question) and you would have answers. Do you know what is the shelf life of this gadget ? Because I can see where if I got dependent on it, I would need a replacement close by.

You can buy the Google Home Mini at your local Electronic store such as Best Buy or Walmart. I would rather purchase it online because they offer more color options than they would have in-stores.

    Hi,

I have been looking in to home assistants recently, to help in the kitchen when cooking. Is there any functionality for recipes, timers, weight conversions etc? Would you buy this over one of the Amazon products? When it comes to playing music, does it have a service such as Amazon prime, or do you need to use something like Spotify?

Yes the Google Home Mini has commands specifically for cooking and conversions. In my opinion, I would buy this product over Amazon products like the Echo Dot. The reason why is because the Google Mini is like a portable mini search bar. I’m always on Google looking things up so this device just makes it so much easier to get the information I need. When it comes to streaming music, the device uses Bluetooth, so you can stream music from Apple Music or from YouTube. You can even stream videos on it as well. That is another advantage the Google Mini has over Amazon products.

I appreciate I have come across this article. There were a couple of things I already expected that could be done with Google Home Mini, but most of them completely surprised me. Having a cool ambient sound would be nice and having assistance solving basic math problems, conversions and equivalents would come very handy. Thank you for this post.
